Croeso and Welcome to the Cardiff Open Studios website.

Use this page to plan your Open Studios Weekend on 27th and 28th October 2012.

This resource will give you information on where the open studios are located, which artists will have their studios open and how to get there. First thing to remember is look for this logo. This 'open doors' symbol indicates studios taking part, they will have it on their signage.

A three step guide to your weekend.

STEP ONE

Where are the studios and workshops?

CLICK here  Open Studios Weekend Google Map to get an overview of the spaces open over the weekend.*

*You can tap on the map if you have a suitable phone and place the map in your menu so you can access it without using this site and use it to navigate.

From the map you will see clusters of places and some abit more off the beaten track. All are worth seeing if you can. The links on the map show who is at each space and weblinks will give you a sense of what type of work they do. Use this map to plan your tour. For example if you start at Morgan's Arcade Studios you can walk to Fireworks and Studio B and head to Canton via Jacqueline Alkema's studio. Other routes could start in Canton and head east. Another could be started in the Bay and head into the centre. NB: which day(s) the studios are open, for example BayArt is not open Sunday. The studios are open noon till 6pm over the weekend, while use this opportuntity to make friends and get to know more about the art and artists those work you like.

***A must is to round off Saturday with a visit to tactileBOSCH at 6pm. This exciting experimental artists' studios and gallery has been running for over 10 years but sadly will be closing in November so this is a fond farewell with an exhibition and celebration event of art and performance.

STEP TWO

When you've chosen which spaces to visit you can download and print off all you need on the spaces from the list below. Each space as a a4 PDF with info incase you get lost. Some spaces can be hard to find. You will notice each sheet has a space to make notes on any artists work you like so you can continue your interest in their work after the weekend, this space on the sheets is also to make notes if you get inspired. Take a pen! pick up a copy of the pink Cardiff ArtMap from your locate gallery or studios to compliment your weekend of art viewing.

STEP THREE

You can use Cardiff Bus for the getting around but it is up to you. If you let the bus take the strain its just £3.40 for a ticket for unlimited travel for a day. Just ask for a 'Day to Go' when you board the bus, you will need the correct money when using Cardiff buses as they don't carry change.

It much easier to hope on and off of buses than find a place to park your car as studios and workshops can be hidden away and usually don't have dedicated parking.
